Kevin Durant‘s future has been a huge question ever since the Oklahoma City Thunder bowed out of the NBA Finals just before the final round, and now it seems we have an answer from the former MVP as to what he has planned. Durant announced on Monday, the 4th of July, that he’ll be joining his fellow MVP Steph Curry on the Golden State Warriors next season.

Saying it has been “by far the most challenging few weeks in my professional life,” Durant announced his decision in a post on The Players’ Tribune.

“The primary mandate I had for myself in making this decision was to have it based on the potential for my growth as a player — as that has always steered me in the right direction,” Durant wrote. “But I am also at a point in my life where it is of equal importance to find an opportunity that encourages my evolution as a man: moving out of my comfort zone to a new city and community which offers the greatest potential for my contribution and personal growth. With this in mind, I have decided that I am going to join the Golden State Warriors.”

The deal is expected to net Durant $54.3 million over two years.

Twitter, of course, has a lot to say about the move, both positive and negative:

However you feel about the move, it’s going to be an interesting 2016-2017 season.
