The deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and five Dallas police officers shook Rickey Smiley so deeply, that he returned to the airwaves broadcast live even though he and the rest of the cast of “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” were supposed to be on vacation. Rickey spoke with listeners, artists, activists and community leaders on his show, but the conversation had on Tuesday, July 12th was even more intense.

Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 is the station where “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show” broadcasts from, and the local team spearheaded a powerful and emotional town hall meeting moderated by Rickey Smiley. Over a thousand went to House of Hope to take part in the #StrategyForChange discussion, and celebrities like Tyrese, David Banner, 2 Chainz, Lyfe Jennings and Young DC Fly were in attendance and shared their thoughts. Plus, community leaders like Bernice King were a big part of the conversation.
