Well let’s jump right on in to the mess of last night’s episode seven.
Lady Mae (Lynn Whitfield) and Bishop (Keith David) are still at odds and at each other’s throats.

While she’s making plans for her annual Day with Lady Mae, Bishop is making plans of his own to dig himself out from under the tax man.
With Maxine Patterson (Patti Labelle) being the special guest this year for Mae’s event, much more planning and budgeting is required. Maxine is something like a big deal so they need to get a bigger venue, get a caterer and beef up security. That’s going to cost a pretty penny so Mae has to dip into her and Bishop’s shared account to cover the cost of some preliminary expenses. But, to her surprise, Bishop has already beat her to the punch and cleaned out that account.
In his defense, he did go to her and ask her for her permission to take the money. He wants to invest in Rochelle Cross’ (LeToya Luckett) Crypto Currency business, which is supposed grant a pretty nice profit in all of two weeks. Bishop goes to Mae and tells her all about it, and how he’s already invested what he has from his own personal account but, he wants more from their shared.
Of course Mae wastes no time in shutting that down so, Bishop goes behind her back and takes the money. Needless to say, Mae put his behind out the house with the quickness and tells him to take everything he has with him. Poor Bishop is sleeping on the couch; or in one of the many guest rooms at his friend Percy’s house now.
Bishop is not the only Greenleaf packing up and leaving the house. This day couldn’t come soon enough for this little girl.
Zora (Lovie Simone) turns 18 and yes, baby girl has BIG PLANS. And apparently so does her mother. Kerissa (Kim Hawthorne) buys a pair of tickets for Hamilton for her and Zora for her birthday but she doesn’t have Mae’s permission to go.
The show is at night and Mae has placed Zora on a very strict punishment which requires her to be home by 7 p.m. Kerissa is disgusted that she has no control over her daughter and even more disgusted that her husband, Jacob (Lamman Rucker) is not standing up to his mother.
This is the part where I want to insert every meme there is on the internet to describe the disappointment, disgust, rage and just overall “No – this -Negro – DID – NOT” (clapping at every syllable)
Nooo, Jacob Nooo! Just when he finishes this long, drawn-out speech about how Kerissa still treats him like the man he USED to be, you know, the man he was back in the day when he was cheating on her and what not? This man of God ups and does it AGAIN – and with Tasha Skanks (Asia’h Epperson) at that – Satan in red bottoms.
Come on, Jacob. You’ve got to do better! He’s venting to her about his marital issues, while she’s talking about how being married to Basie has taught her how to keep secrets and then BOOM – they kiss. And it’s one of those – kiss, then take a beat to consider your cheating ways and whether or not this is something you really want to do – then kiss again while rubbing each other’s backs. JUST SHAMEFUL!
Meanwhile, Grace (Merle Dandridge) is jumping in face first into this Cora Lee Hunter case. That’s the woman who’s being charged with murdering her husband in his sleep with a hammer. Grace goes to visit her in jail and tells her she plans to help her with the assistance of the new legal team for women dealing with domestic violence at Calvary. Grace is way too emotionally invested in this case and it’s triggering flashbacks of killing her Uncle Mack.
Her daughter is losing it too.
Poor Sophia (Desiree Ross) is struggling hard to hold onto her faith in God. She’s tearing out the pages of the Bible and discarding them in the toilet. She says she doesn’t want to know the word of God anymore and feels betrayed because she’s done nothing but love and serve Him but, he’s taken away her ability to have children.

Charity (Deborah Joy Winans) is trying to pull herself together and get up off the couch. When Percy calls her for a favor, it gives her reason to get up, get out and do something. He needs a singer for a homegoing service after the one scheduled backs out at the last minute.
She agrees to do it and gets caught up in the family’s grief. She asks Percy how he manages to be around so much grief all day without losing his mind. He tells her that he drinks and that’s probably the wrong thing to tell someone who’s slowly developing a pill-popping habit. This may be the beginning of another downward spiral for her.
Oh, and Miss ‘I’m 18 now and I can do what I want’ Zora has packed up her bag and is leaving the building. Someone’s on their way to pick her up from her grandparents house and I can only imagine who that might be.
SMH at this little girl. We’ll see what happens next week with all these dramas breaking out all over the place.
