Cuba Gooding Sr., frontman for soul band The Main Ingredient and father to Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr., was found dead in his car on Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
He was 72-years-old. The Main Ingredient achieved mainstream success with their chart-topping 1972 hit, “Everybody Plays The Fool.”
According to TMZ who initially reported the story, Gooding was found slumped over and unresponsive in his Jaguar on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, California. Gooding was pronounced dead at the scene.
Gooding and his wife Shirley have four children together, including actors Cuba and Omar.
Investigators are still looking into the cause of death.
