Forget what you may have heard — a Vegan Thanksgiving can be just as lit and fulfilling as a traditional one. And judging by the recent recall on raw turkeys over the last few years, an animal free Thanksgiving meal may be the best option for all of us this holiday season.
According to CNN:
“Jennie-O Turkey Store Sales, LLC recalled 91,388 pounds of raw ground turkey products after the USDA found that a sample of the products tested positive for a salmonella reading matching the outbreak strain. The samples were from a Sept. 11, 2018 production, and, according to the USDA, the rest of the products shipped nationwide.”
Last year, at least one person in California passed away and 164 others across 35 states have been affected or hospitalized by the outbreak. But you can save yourself from the threat of Salmonella poisoning by choosing to have an animal free Thanksgiving this year.

Dairy and gluten free Sweet Potato Casserole
You’ll need:
5 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into cubes
½ cup chicken stock or vegetable stock (for vegan)
¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar
¼ cup dairy-free buttery spread or sticks, cut into chunks (can swap in coconut oil)
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups miniature marshmallows (vegan optional)
Vegan Stuffing
You’ll need:
1 large loaf whole-grain bread or 2 small baguettes, cubed & set out to dry overnight (~9 cups loosely packed)
3/4 cup uncooked green lentils
3 Tbsp olive oil or vegan butter (I used a mix of both)
1/2 cup white onions, diced
3/4 cup celery, diced
salt & pepper
3 – 3 1/2 cups vegetable broth (+ more for cooking lentils)
1 flax egg (1 Tbsp flaxseed meal + 2 1/2 Tbsp water)
3/4 tsp dried sage, or 1 1/4 tsp fresh sage, chopped
Maple Spiced Cauliflower Roast With Pumpkin Gravy
You’ll need:
1 head medium Cauliflower, raw
1/4 cup Olive Oil, Extra Virgin
3/4 tsp Spices & Seasonings, Ground Cayenne Pepper
1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
1 1/4 tsp Sea Salt
15 oz Pumpkin Puree (organic)
