Deitrick Haddon recently joined Erica Campbell on Get Up Mornings to discuss his latest music and upcoming projects. Haddon, a well-known artist, preacher, actor, and producer, shared his excitement about his new song “Never Be the Same,” which he wrote at church after a sermon. This song, a nod to old-school gospel traditions, has become a staple at his church, leading him to include it on his new album. Haddon was initially unaware that the song would make the album, but his armor bearer insisted it was crucial to the record.

In discussing his latest album, One Night in California, Haddon described it as his most transparent work yet. He emphasized that the album reflects his personal journey and spiritual transformation. “It’s transparent,” Haddon said. “We’re finding that there’s ministry in transparency. People want to hear from our hearts as gospel artists. With this album, I’m sharing my own story of surrender and healing.”

When asked how he balances his traditional preaching roots with his modern artistic style, Haddon explained that while he adheres to his apostolic and Pentecostal upbringing, he believes in limitless creativity in his music. “When it comes to the gospel, I’m apostolic, Pentecostal, and holiness. But with my artistry, there’s no limit to creativity when representing God,” he said.

Haddon also revealed exciting plans for the future, including a new stage play that he’s eager to share with audiences. “I’m working on a stage play that’s going to hit the road,” he announced. “It’s incredible, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.” Additionally, he is involved in shooting movies and continuing his work in music.

Erica Campbell praised Haddon for his Stellars performance and shared that he stepped in to perform when she faced vocal issues.
