Ephesians 6:11-21
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything, so that you also may know how I am and what I am doing.
Be Careful with Your Helpfulness
[This scripture] makes me think about how many things we put on ourselves in the way of playing “God” in people’s lives.
I remember when when I literally heard the voice of the Lord say, “are you playing God in the in their lives?” I had some family members that were going through some things and, you know, being in the blessed position that I sit in in my life, I felt like it was my job to always do, always give, always be there, always make up the difference…but sometimes the stories and testimonies that people are giving you is a part of their life, something that God is trying to do.
So I was out here trying to, you know, where my “Holy Ghost cape” and save people’s lives and God said, “I didn’t tell you to wear that.” He didn’t tell me to put that on, or ask me to be superhero. I then realized that I was trying to—I don’t know—trying to impress God. I just thought it was what I was supposed to do, but sometimes what people are dealing with is part of their testimony… don’t get in the way of that.

Make sure that in your effort to help, and be, and do, that you are not getting in the way of God. That’s something that you seriously have to pray about. Yes, we’re called to help and we’re called to serve, but we’re never called to play God in people’s lives. Sometimes the storm that they’re going through is a storm designated to make them great to bring out purpose in their life.
If that resonates with you today, like it does for me, I know that I have to be careful with my helping… that my helping doesn’t get in the way of someone else’s testimony that’s hard to process because people think that if you’re blessed, are just supposed to always help. If you are called, one-hundred percent do that…but if the Holy Spirit says, “not this one, not this time,” then you have to be obedient and you don’t have to worry about how they will feel.
If this is God telling you something, they guess just like God talk to you, he’ll talk to them too. Be sure of that. Be confident in that and don’t feel bad about it.
That is my Ericaism for the day. I love you and I mean it!
