On Get Up Mornings, Bible teacher and author Rachel G. Scott joined Erica Campbell to talk about her book, Taking the Five Leaps: Experiencing God’s Faithfulness as You Respond to His Call. Scott explained the concept behind her book, noting that many of us feel a divine calling but hesitate due to fear. “This book really came out of my own experience,” Scott shared. “We are called to live a leaping lifestyle, and it’s about what that practically looks like in our lives every day.”

Scott introduced the idea of different types of leaps in the faith journey, describing them as “the fisherman, the tent maker, the builder, the shepherd, and the trailblazer.” She revealed that she personally resonates with the “fisherman” leap, which involves leaving a career to follow a calling. However, she admitted that the “shepherd” leap, inspired by the story of Abraham and involving relocation, feels more challenging. “The shepherd one is based on the story of Abraham,” Scott explained. “That’s a little more uncomfortable for me because that’s what you’re called to relocate. And nobody even likes to do that.”

In the conversation, Scott also discussed the difference between a calling and a vision. “The calling answers the question of what is God telling me or what is He saying I need to do?” she said. “But the vision is He’s actually showing me how that’s going to happen.” She emphasized that while a calling indicates what one is supposed to do, a vision reveals how to carry it out.

This engaging discussion highlighted how Scott’s experiences and teachings can inspire others to embrace their own leaps of faith.
