CDC: Number of Whooping Cough Cases Has Increased

NATIONAL — Whooping cough cases are over three times higher than last year.

That’s according to recent numbers from the CDC, which found that there have been over 10,800 recorded cases of whooping cough so far this year. During the same time in 2023, there were just over 2,900 cases.
Doctors say the number of reported cases over the past few years were lower than usual, likely because of COVID-19 mitigation measures including social distancing and masking.
