Teezy introduced The Greatest Gift as a song that emphasizes the importance of family and prioritizing time with loved ones. “I was really trying to showcase what it means to have family, to love on them, and to really take care of your time,” he explained. His message resonated widely, even catching the attention of super-producer Timbaland, who was struck by the song’s message that “the greatest gift is time.”
Reflecting on his musical beginnings, Teezy shared that he originally started as a dancer, inspired by legends like Michael Jackson and James Brown. However, a tragic event shifted his perspective—losing a close friend in college led him to rededicate his life to God. “I wasn’t doing anything too crazy, but I wasn’t perfect,” he admitted. This turning point led him to explore Christian music, initially through dance and later by creating Christian remixes on YouTube. His unique style quickly gained traction, expanding his reach to Instagram and TikTok.

Teezy has collaborated with notable gospel artists like Jekalyn Carr and Pastor Mike Jr., but when asked about his dream collaboration, he didn’t hesitate to turn the question to Erica Campbell. “EC, what’s up? What we doing?” he said, prompting an enthusiastic response from Campbell, who expressed her willingness to work with him.
His impact in gospel music has not gone unnoticed. Recently, he received recognition from Grammy.com, BET Gospel, and even the YouVersion Bible App. Despite the growing spotlight, Teezy remains focused on his journey, saying, “I’m really in a season of trusting the process.” His latest album, New Leaf, is still making waves, but he’s already working on new projects, including a possible tour this year.
Before signing off, Campbell encouraged Teezy to prioritize releasing his music. “My new process is 20% creativity, 80% execution. We’re always creating, but we need to get it out there,” she advised. Teezy, who has a stockpile of unreleased songs, acknowledged the challenge of timing but assured fans that more music is on the way.
