Don Jackson Announces 40th Stellar Awards Nominations & Return to Nashville

The Stellar Gospel Music Awards is turning 40, and Don Jackson—founder, chairman, and CEO of Central City Productions—stopped by Get Up Mornings with Erica Campbell to share all the big news about this year’s milestone event.
Speaking with Erica and co-host Griff, Jackson opened the conversation with a personal congratulations. “Erica, you and Mary Mary have racked up 23 Stellar Awards total, with you personally winning six,” he said. “Before we even get to this year’s nominees, I just had to give you your flowers.”

This year’s ceremony returns to Nashville and will once again be held at the beautiful Schermerhorn Symphony Center. The nominee reception is scheduled for Friday, July 15, and the awards show will take place on Saturday, July 16.
Among the top nominees this year are Casey J and Pastor Mike Jr., each with nine nominations. Gospel icon CeCe Winans earned eight nods, while the Mississippi Mass Choir, Dietrick Haddon, Tamela Mann, and Clark Sisters members Dorinda Clark Cole and Karen Clark Sheard all scored multiple nominations.
In the radio category, Get Up Mornings received a nod once again. Jackson congratulated Erica and Griff for their ongoing excellence. “You’re up again, and it’s well deserved. You guys really do get folks like me up in the morning,” he added.
One of the biggest announcements was the hosting duo for the 40th anniversary show: CeCe Winans and her brother BeBe Winans will be teaming up to lead the night. “We’re bringing back the team of BeBe and CeCe,” Jackson revealed, which sparked excitement from Erica and Griff.

Beyond the awards themselves, Jackson highlighted the return of the Stellar Plus Experience, a three-day event designed to bring together gospel artists, industry professionals, and fans. The expanded programming includes a comedy show, networking events, and community discussions that reflect on the evolution of gospel culture and entertainment. “It’s how we get feedback to improve not only the Stellar Awards, but our Stellar TV network as well,” he said. The Stellar TV network, which launched two years ago, is rapidly growing and now airs on platforms like Vizio and syndicated broadcast.
The weekend’s events also include the nominee reception and awards at the National Museum of African American Music, produced once again by Dr. Teresa Hairston Jackson.
As the interview wrapped, Erica encouraged fans to show up and show out. “Let’s support,” she said. “Get your tickets at StellarAwards.com. I want to see everybody in Nashville!”
With four decades of honoring gospel music excellence, this year’s Stellar Awards promises to be a historic and joy-filled celebration.
