During the interview, Tasha introduced her new song “Church” featuring John Legend, a collaboration that immediately caught everyone’s attention. But for her, the heart behind the song goes beyond just making great music. “We were in a writing camp for the new album,” she shared, “and someone suggested we write about church on a Monday—how do you build a relationship with Christ during the week, not just on Sundays?” That idea struck a chord. Tasha said she was intentional about creating something that beginner believers could connect with—people who might have just met Jesus and are still figuring things out. Inspired by artists like Erica and Tina Campbell and Kirk Franklin, she made it clear that her goal was to give people something practical and relatable that they could carry into their everyday lives.

While fans have come to know and love Tasha through her powerful live worship albums, she’s now stepping into something new: her first-ever studio album. When asked why she made the switch, she explained that over the past two to three years, God has been stretching her creatively. “I just wanted to be Auntie Tasha,” she joked, “but God had other plans.” Whether it was BET cyphers or being asked to freestyle on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Tasha found herself pushed into new territory. That creative growth also led to writing her book Do It Anyway, which she says opened up a deeper level of vulnerability and transparency that she’s not willing to walk away from.

In addition to the new album, Tasha is also preparing to hit the road with fellow worship artist Naomi Raine for the Holy & Free Tour, kicking off this fall. But this isn’t just another worship concert. Tasha revealed that she wanted to go deeper, beyond the usual emotional highs of a live performance. Alongside the music, the tour will feature Pastor Jackie Greene and licensed therapist Kobe Campbell, who will speak throughout the night to offer practical spiritual and mental health wisdom. “We want people to leave not just saying, ‘we had a moment,’ but knowing how to sustain their breakthrough,” Tasha said.
