Famed actress Whoopi Goldberg is set to co-star and produce a film about Emmett Till’s unfortunate 1955 lynching, but plans to do so by telling the tragic tale from the perspective of his mom, Mamie Till-Mobley.

The Chicago church where Emmett Till's funeral was held, along with a few other Black historic sites, will officially be preserved as such with grant funding of more than $3 million.

A federal report sent to congress in March noted that the 1955 case would be reopened in light of unspecified new information.
