Pastor Smokie Norful began with a real talk about those tough moments we all face. He said, “When you lose your way, when you find yourself at the bottom of the barrel, when everything has fallen apart, when the pain and the pressure of life is insurmountable…you gotta learn how to tell God, ‘I don’t understand, but I’m gonna thank God for this.’” It’s a tough pill to swallow, especially when everything feels like it’s crumbling around you.

Pastor Norful continued, “I have to put you through this because I got to get out of you what shouldn’t be tripping in you and make your tomorrow more beautiful than you ever thought it was going.” He emphasized that true praise is born out of hardship, saying, “Oh, you ain’t seen shouting until you come out of a season of hell. Come on. Praise God. I don’t care what it looks like and I don’t care who’s looking. I’ll even get ugly with it because he’s just been that good to me.”
I felt every word he spoke. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that even in our darkest moments, there’s purpose in the storm. Pastor Norful’s message reminded me that coming out of a valley or a storm can make our praise even more powerful. He encouraged us to embrace those moments, saying, “You ain’t seen no praise like somebody that just came out of a test and you walking in your victory.”

I’m grateful for this word today. It’s a blessing to know that even when things seem impossible, there’s always something to thank God for. As Pastor Smokie said, “Learn to thank Him anyway; there’s purpose in the storm. The victory is coming. It’s yours. It’s a blessing with your name on it.”
Thank you, Pastor Smokie Norful, for this uplifting and inspiring message. Stay tuned, everyone—there’s more to come on Get Up Mornings!
