Smith, known for his incredible career in entertainment, opened up about what inspired his new music. “The last couple of years have been a real soul-searching experience for me,” he said. “I had to move past my superhero persona and dig into something more authentic.” He described the new music as coming from a place of vulnerability. “It’s about the parts of me where I’m scared or confused. It’s from a place of real honesty.”

When Jackson asked about working with Jason White and the Sunday Service choir, Smith shared how it all came together. “Erica’s husband connected us with them,” he explained. “I remember meeting Jason and talking about my journey. He didn’t say much at first—just went to the piano and started playing the chorus. It was like he immediately understood what I was trying to express.”
Smith also spoke about how his music bridges different genres and why he doesn’t focus on labels. “I don’t see it as just making a gospel record,” he said. “It’s more about what feels true to me and what can help others. I grew up in the church, and that background influences everything I do.”

Reflecting on his childhood, Smith mentioned how gospel music was a big part of his life. “My grandmother played Mahalia Jackson every day,” he said. “Performing in the church choir was my first real experience with music.”
As the interview wrapped up, Jackson encouraged everyone to check out Smith’s new single, “You Can Make It.” “It’s really inspiring,” she said. “Make sure to download it and share it.”
