Houston opened up about the meaning behind “Therapy,” explaining, “I wrote a song called ‘Therapy’ because I felt like we needed to bridge the gap between faith and mental health, especially at a time like this. It’s okay to see a mental health specialist if that’s something you need.”

The track emphasizes the importance of seeking help, even for those who are strong in their faith. As Houston said, “We all need help sometimes, and it’s okay to talk to somebody. But never forget who your Jesus is—His strength is found in your weakness.”

Erica and Griff were moved by the message of the song, and after its debut on the show, Griff asked Houston how he blended gospel with other musical influences. Houston shared that his musical upbringing, deeply rooted in both church and jazz, shaped his unique sound. “My father is a pastor, so I got a lot of music in me—jazz, gospel, and old-school Baptist. We even had real musicians come in for this record,” he explained.

Houston’s career has included collaborations with some of gospel’s biggest names, including James Fortune and Pastor Mike Jr. He credited Pastor Mike for teaching him about dedication and work ethic, recalling a grueling video shoot where Pastor Mike worked tirelessly without taking a break. “It’s about showing the work ethic, not just talking about it,” Houston said.

One of Houston’s standout moments was being selected for the Essence Fest New and Next Spotlight, where he was the only gospel artist chosen. “It was such a blessing to be the only gospel artist that year, especially with everyone else being rappers or R&B artists,” Houston reflected.

As he looks to the future, Houston teased new music coming soon and encouraged fans to stay connected with him on Instagram and streaming platforms. He also shared words of wisdom for aspiring artists: “Be yourself. Take your time. Nothing happens overnight. God takes you on your journey at your pace.”

Houston’s single “Therapy” is available now, and fans can expect more music from this talented artist in the months to come.
