In her conversation with Erica, Wilkins opened up about the heartbreak of infertility and personal loss—experiences that deeply shaped her message. She shared that what pushed her to write Arise, Shine, and Conquer was seeing how often people, especially women, were losing emotional and spiritual battles they didn’t have to.

“When we go through tragedy, the enemy tries to ride in on the back of our grief,” Wilkins explained. “He wants to convince us that God isn’t good. But what he’s really after is our faith.”

Her devotional aims to remind readers that even in the darkest moments, God is present and good. “He is the treasure hidden in dark places—if we’re willing to look,” she said.

Erica praised the book’s message about surrendering to God not as a sign of weakness, but as a path to peace. Wilkins agreed, pointing out that real trust in God comes from truly knowing Him. “You won’t trust who you don’t know,” she said. “The more you know the Lord, the more you’ll relax and let go.”

Speaking directly to listeners who feel stuck or silenced by pain or disappointment, Wilkins offered passionate advice: “Cling to God. Literally. I would say out loud, ‘I’m clinging to you.’ I knew if I let myself fall too far into that pit, I might not come back. But when you run to God, He will meet you with His power and lead you through it.”

From worship stages to podcasts and now the pages of a devotional, Wilkins continues to share her voice of victory. She encourages anyone in a tough season to resist building emotional walls and instead run to God for strength and restoration.
