Watts kicked off the conversation by introducing his new single, “Well Done”, which was released on May 16. “Honestly, those two words—‘well done’—that’s what the Christian life is all about,” he said. “We’re not working for salvation, we’re working from it. Christ already finished the work.” The song, produced in collaboration with Brock Bennix and Matthias Patrick, carries what Watts proudly calls a “Brooklyn bop,” offering a modern, rhythmic spin on a timeless message.

Erica asked how the song reflects his dual role as a pastor and artist. Watts responded that it’s deeply personal. “Those words are things I preach about and think about all the time,” he said. “It’s what we live for.”

Watts’ upcoming album, Rewind: Live in Brooklyn, is set to release this Friday and pays tribute to the sound of ‘90s gospel—a decade he cherishes. “I was born in 1980. I grew up on Milton Brunson, Thomas Whitfield, and eventually joined Hezekiah Walker’s Crusade Choir,” he shared. “That choir kept me focused, kept me out of trouble—and I even met my wife there!”

The album is a musical love letter to that era, but with a modern twist designed to reach younger audiences. “Our church is 92% folks in their twenties,” Watts said. “A lot of them don’t know the gospel greats we grew up on. I want to bridge the gap. This music isn’t just relevant—it’s foundational. It carried our grandparents, and it still speaks to our situations today.”

Watts also highlighted another song on the album, “Unmatched,” featuring Lena Byrd Miles. “It has a go-go bounce, but the message is clear—our God has no rivals. Theologically sound music matters to me.”
