“It’s something I hope can be a blessing to so many people,” Kimberly explained with enthusiasm. Miracle Working God showcases her unique style, fusing her classically trained violin skills with her deep passion for worship. After introducing her song, Cheryl Jackson couldn’t help but praise Kimberly’s musical ability. “I love that you’re using the violin in such an impactful way,” she said.

Kimberly then shared a little more about her background, which includes an early start in music. “I’m a worship leader, singer, songwriter, and a classically trained violinist,” Kimberly began. “I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but I currently live in North Carolina.” Kimberly’s love for music started at age five when an African American violin teacher introduced her to the instrument. “She was strict but believed in me and what God had placed inside me,” Kimberly recalled, crediting her mentor with teaching her to read music and play by ear.

While the violin came first, Kimberly’s vocal talent wasn’t discovered until later. “My brother was really into music, and he discovered that I could sing,” Kimberly laughed. “He had me mimicking artists like Mary Mary, Kurt Franklin, and Fred Hammond, and that’s how my vocal sound developed.”

Despite initial hesitations about mixing her violin skills with gospel music, Kimberly’s mother encouraged her to combine the two, which has worked in her favor. “It’s been amazing to see how people have embraced that blend of classical and gospel,” she said.

Having honed her craft and pursued formal education, Kimberly shared advice for other young artists aspiring to merge their faith with music. “The biggest thing is just not letting fear rule you,” she said. “God has given you a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Be fearless in what you do, and trust that your gift is important to someone.”

She also credits her parents’ unwavering support throughout her journey. “They were like my own version of Joe Jackson,” Kimberly laughed. “They pushed me, even when I wanted to give up.”

Before wrapping up, Cheryl Jackson asked about Kimberly’s future musical plans. “What about a jazz album with just the violin?” she asked. Kimberly responded with a smile, “That might be next, you never know!”
