Adrianne Shropshire, the founder and executive director of the Black Progressive Action Coalition (BPAC), joined Erica Campbell on Get Up Mornings to discuss the organization’s efforts to mobilize Black voters ahead of a crucial election. BPAC has been actively engaging with voters across the country, knocking on doors and providing critical information about early voting, registration deadlines, and the importance of participating in down-ballot races.

Shropshire emphasized the importance of Black voters making their voices heard, especially during the early voting period. “It’s one thing to know that voting is important, but it’s another thing to take action and show up,” she said, encouraging early participation to avoid the chaos of election day.

When asked about the concerns Black voters are raising, Shropshire mentioned that economic challenges, such as housing affordability and quality education, are at the forefront. She also pointed out that local races, like school board elections, often have a direct impact on issues such as the teaching of Black history and access to culturally significant literature.
Addressing voter hesitation, Shropshire stressed the importance of approaching those who feel their vote may not count with empathy. “We always say to give those folks some grace,” she advised, encouraging people to vote not just for themselves, but for the benefit of their entire community.
